Scarlet and Gray Quilts Past and Present

Yes I am a Buckeye!!!  52" x 70" My first Ohio State Quilt!! This quilt started as a kit I purchased at Red Rooster Quilts in Dublin, Ohio. I machine pieced it at the Great Lake Quilt Escape at Geneva State Lodge on November 10, 2007. The Ohio State Buckeyes were on their way to a second National Championship game in 2 years, but the fans didn’t think that would happen after getting beat by the University of Illinois 28 to 21 that afternoon. I continued to work on the quilt top even after the loss and completed it that evening. While in Columbus the following July I saw a similar quilt and decided that I needed mine quilted by Jennifer McCann of Galena. If you look closely you can see many words that represent The Ohio State University. OSU, Scarlet and Gray, Brutus, Go Bucks, Round on the Ends and High in the Middle, OHIO, Carmen Ohio.I displayed this quilt at the Lake Farm Parks Quilt Show 2009 Show.

In the fall of 2008 I attended my first Buckeyes Quilters Retreat organized by Barb Sills of Your Sew Special at the Charm Countryview InnThis is a group of women who love to sew and quilt that are also Buckeye fans!!  I met a mother and daughter that mentioned that they have a Scarlet and Gray stash!!  That was when my stash started and it has been growing ever since!
At the retreat I worked on a quilt kit I purchased from Creations Sew Clever called Oh Buckeye! 54" x 72"  This quilt has been quilted and I finished the binding.  I learned a lesson with this quilt.  I backed it with a black print and binded it with the same black print.  I have to be in a very well lit area to be able to hand sew the binding.

Center of my Universe is a pattern I bought at Quilt Beginnings in Dublin, Ohio.  Buying this pattern helped to develop my stash.  It has 10 different reds in it.  I have had the wall hanging done for a couple of years now.  I was hoping to get some words embroidered on it.  But I think I will just get it quilted so it's finished.
