My visit to JEllen's House of Fabrics in Lyndhurst Ohio

A few weeks ago I heard about a new quilt shop opening that would be carrying mostly Moda fabric.  So Tuesday I traveled to JEllen's House of Fabric.  She has only been open a couple weeks, but I think I will be visiting her whenever I get the chance!  The main reason I went was because she had her fabric on sale for $8 a yard and she had the Moda Let It Snow Batik fabric line that I needed.  I will return because she has a beautiful shop, great product and best of all she is a BUCKEYE!!!  As I do every shopping trip I picked up some more Scarlet and Gray fabric.  She had the Moda Marbles that I use in my quilts.  Another customer asked what I was going to do with the fabric and I told them about my quilts and my Blog.  Turns out Joyce is an alumni and there were a couple of other ladies from Ohio State visiting.  Check out Joyce's blog at JEllen's House of Fabric Blog where she talks about meeting me!

I picked up this pattern at Cottonpickers Quilt Shop and the Let It Snow Batik Snowflake Panel and Snowflake fabric for the borders. The pictures don't do this fabric justice. It's a really beautiful Dark Blue and with Gray accents.

Then when I visited Joyce I purchased the rest of what I needed for the quilt top.

Pinwheels and Whirligigs by Cary Flanagan, Something Sew Fine Quilt Design

Now that Cary from Something SewFine Quilt Design has published and posted her new pattern on Quiltwoman.com I can post the picture of the quilt I made while testing Cary's pattern.

Pinwheels and Whirligigs is currently being machine quilted. I will post another picture in a few months when I get it back.

It is 50" x 50" and uses mostly Moda marbles.  I found the pieced border and and the piano key border the most challenging part of the pattern.

I have started putting together my Stars and Stripes Allover Quilt

I created this quilt based on a quilt I found in Eleanor Burn's Quilt Blocks on American Barns.

So far I have a few blocks put together.

I added shashing and a corner block.
I love the Blue Paisley fabric by EQuilter

I have decided to reduce the size of the quilt down to a 4 x 4 design.

Each block is 12" so it will stil be 72 x 72

Pets on Quilt Show August 7th - August 21st 2010

I want to thank SewCalGal for organizing this virtual Pets on Quilt Show.

This is Garfield he is 4 years old and he loves laying on quilts.  This is my Gerber Daisy quilt prior to the borders being added.

This is Nermal, he turned 1 this summer. Nermal came into my life after I had been unemployed for about 6 month.  He prevents me from quilting more then helps me quilt!!

I hope you have enjoyed my entries in this years show.
