Three projects from Christmas Fat Quarters!

I purchased 12 FQ's at Cottonpickers Quilt Shop of the new Moda Northwoods Botanical from Holly Taylor.  I made up the center of my Simple Star Wallhanging, and then completed the center of my Christmas Train to Grandma's.  Each block is 8" by 8" and the finished quilt will be 44" by 60".

The remaining pieces were made into the sides for my Christmas Tote.

Each side is 15" by 15"

I will have to purchase some additional yardage to complete the borders and bindings.

Another EQ7 Quilt - Simple Star Wallhanging

I have designed my second EQ7 quilt, it's a smaller version of Simple Star Pattern by Paula Barnes available at Bonnie Blue Quilts I purchase this pattern back in February of 2009 to make my first flannel quilt out of Moda Birchwood Lane.  No it's not quite finished yet!!

Cottonpickers Quilt Shop has the full size version of this quilt which they made out of the new Moda Northwoods Botanical from Holly Taylor.

They were having a special on Fat Quarters so I decided to downsize the quilt to 3" half square triangles.  I have completed the center and need to add the borders.  I have left over fabric from the FQ's and will be making a tote, purse or wallhanging.

I had hoped to complete it back in May but other projects got in the way!!

It's larger then I thought it would be and handles are shorter then I would like.

Is Quilt Pattern Testing my next Career??

I have completed two projects as a pattern tester.

The first one was a tablerunner.  I was sent the fabric, pattern and a return envelope.  I tested this pattern for Sarah Whitney at Quilt Patterns from Sweet Clover Canyon  I used e-mail to communicate with her and send her comments on the pattern.  Upon completion I sent her the table runner and a picture.  She will use my name in the pattern as one of her testers.

The second one was a crib quilt that I used my own fabric, and of course I selected Scarlet and Gray!!  I tested this pattern for Cary Flanagan of SomethingSewFine.com.  I used e-mail to communicate with her and send her comments on the pattern.  Upon completion I will send her a picture of the completed quilt top.

I really enjoyed the opportuninty to test these patterns and I hope to do more in the future.

Attended a presentation by Patricia Knoechel Friday night

Pat is Eleanor Burns' sister and she has been promoting Quilt in a Day products for 25 years!!

She talked for a couple hours about two of Eleanor's books and showed the quilts that she made using both of these books.

Quilt Blocks on American Barns

Orion's Star Quilt

The quilts she showed us were fantastic!!  We got to she her Lavendar Hill Farm quilt from page 8 of the Quilt Blocks on American Barns and the American Barns 6" block wallhanging based on Eleanor's quilt which is on the cover of the book.  She walked us through how easy it is to make a Flying Kite block and the Bank Barn block.

Then she showed us how easy it is to make Flying Geese using the Quilt in a Day rulers.  Flying geese units are used in a number of the quilt blocks and the Orion's Star Quilt blocks.

Pat very graciously signed our books on page 8 near her Lavendar Hill Farm quilt.

Wow author Terri Thayer left a comment on my Blog!!

I have really enjoyed her three mystery quilting novels - Old Maid's Puzzle, Wild Goose Chase and Ocean Waves.

The question I have, is when will the next book come out in the series??

My first EQ 7 Quilt!! Stars and Stripes Allover

I spent about 4 hours this morning creating my first quilt with EQ 7.  I have had another quilt design software for about 4 years and decided that I should try EQ 7.  I only had to contact tech support one time!!

Stars and Stripes Allover

My quilt is inspired by a quilt called Stars Galore by Sally Murray which is published in the Quilts on American Barns book by Eleanor Burns.

I have purchased fabric, now the question will be when to add it to the every growing list of projects!!!
